Hello painters! I'm Alai Ganuza
I am a full-time oil and digital painter and educator that focuses on enhancing color and brushwork to make expressive and lively artworks. I've studied physics and graduated in Fine Arts in the UPV-EHU, and I realised that Color Theory isn't taught anymore (or at least as much/deep as it used to be). I love to study light behaviour, and I believe Color Theory is a powerful tool that will help you step up your artworks. But we need the proper techniques to translate that into our medium of our choice, whether it is physical or digital.

You can pause and replay the videos as much as you want. The course is suitable for everyone and it can be applied to every medium. It would be best to take the course in order, because it will start from the basics to lessons at a more advanced level, progressively adding new tools and techniques. Â

MODULE 1. Introduction
Discover what to expect from my course and get the templates to plan how you want to do it. You will see all the materials used with links and alternatives. In case you want to use oils, you’ll find two bonus lessons about Oil Painting basics and warming up exercises.
MODULE 2. The color language
Learn the basics of color theory, how to mix colors and understand dimensions like hue, value and chroma with a fresh perspective. Practice understanding what colors you own and how to use them doing a small painting with a limited palette where we LEARN TO SEE what we have in the reference.
MODULE 3. Color palettes
Explore the color relations and popular palettes and what is the objective when building a palette. Design your own accordingly, and experiment with 3 small paintings using three limited palettes to understand the effect of colors.
MODULE 4. Juggling with colors: my color theory
Discover how I change color theory foundations in order to create my own coloring style. Find black and white alternatives and understand the why behind my color palette. LEARN TO UNDERSTAND what we SEE making a painting using my main techniques to gradually see the impact of each decision.
MODULE 5. The physics of color
Learn about the physics of light for a deeper understanding of color theory. LEARN TO INTERPRET different contexts and atmospheres enhancing the color to add meaning.
MODULE 6. Facing a new painting
Debunk all the myths around painting to enjoy a more approachable and positive experience. Set up the mindset to have fun, stay inspired and avoid art block. Learn to face a new painting project and how to prepare all the materials and drawing to paint.
MODULE 7. Painting process and color decisions
Watch the brushstroke by brushstroke of the biggest painting of the course where we apply all the things learned. Review and compile your work into a notebook, and receive your certificate upon completion (and a little trophy-like surprise!).

I will explain all the color and tools used with some alternatives. My objective is to teach you how to use first your own colors and get new materials to experiment progressively. You'll also find templates to create your handbook!
